The castle in Břeclav is characterised above all by its ability to adapt and change over the course of history. Successive extensions over the centuries have left a legacy that is still evident today.

We propose to repurpose it as a hotel, as tourism is one of the economic drivers of our time. It will be a reference hotel in the area, whether for visitors, business people or locals who want to experience something special.

A transformation of such a scale requires a great deal of space and technology, which the structure of the building does not allow, so an extension is designed to take advantage of the natural unevenness of the plot. Access will be via the new extension at basement level, which is at the level of the park adjacent to the castle, while the northern part is transformed into a pleasant square. In this way, the castle is situated above the plinth and minimises the visual impact of the extension.

The duality between the new and the old is evident in the reception area itself, where the archaeological ruins are left on display under the glass floor, making the history of the castle one of its main identifying features.
